Yes it is a real 1982 D Small Date but it looks like a zinc coin.
The valuable one is copper.
Please weigh to two decimal points to confirm.

Yes I'm waiting for a scale arrive home today, so I know I must weight 2.8 to 3.11 is that right? Zinc weight is 2.5 that what I read here in some post. Thank you I will let you know when the scale arrive.

Zinc = 2.5 grams
Steel - 2.7 grams
Copper = 3.11 grams
Keep in mind they mint only weights the gold coins, so there is a tolerance for each coin:

Appears to be a zinc core cent. Eager to get an accurate weight.

You all are right, the weight is 2.5 so is zinc, but I have gews 1982 no mintmark that weight 3.+ do you think they are worth? I can upload pics of them if you need to see it. Thank you.

No need, unless they show a huge obvious error. the 82 no mint mark cents are from Philadelphia and are worth right around face value. Now the one you really want to find is the small date Denver minted Copper cent - that one is valuable, and very, very, very rare.
