Yes it is a real 1982 D Small Date but it looks like a zinc coin. The valuable one is copper. Please weigh to two decimal points to confirm. Almost forgot to the CCF

Zinc = 2.5 grams Steel - 2.7 grams Copper = 3.11 grams Keep in mind they mint only weights the gold coins, so there is a tolerance for each coin: Save this chart for you own educational files now. You may have a harder time trying to find it later on.

Appears to be a zinc core cent. Eager to get an accurate weight.

No need, unless they show a huge obvious error. the 82 no mint mark cents are from Philadelphia and are worth right around face value. Now the one you really want to find is the small date Denver minted Copper cent - that one is valuable, and very, very, very rare.

Probably only a few created by a mint worker. (Probably didn't get caught)
