The pictures are too small to tell. Can you post a larger ones?

Needs bigger pics, but I'll say EF-40.

This is an attractive example of this better date. I'd say it is an easy EF-45 and a possible AU-50. There is slight but definite wear on the fasces and some luster is visible between the letters. On the obverse I see slight wear on the wings and along the bottom edge of the bust. I don't notice any hairline scratches or other signs of cleaning or abuse.
Very nice coin!

There is wear on the fasces and bands also on the hair and wing. Nice but it looks EF-40 to me. Though it might go as high as EF-45.

probably just my eyes, but are there hairlines on the reverse under the motto? Jim

Maybe not an abrasive cleaning, but she's had a bath. XF-45 imho.

Ok I was thinking EF 40 to EF 45, but really closer to EF 40. The seller has it listed as AU, which I don't see with the wear on the fasces.

FYI, I submitted this 1942/1 dime to ICG years ago and they graded it EF-40. I do think this coin is marginal for that grade and suspect ICG gave it a grade bump due to its key date status. I'm also fairly certain it had been lightly cleaned at some point but ICG did not find a problem with it. Anyway, Sfwusc's coin is clearly superior to this EF40-graded coin.

Yeah, then it's better than EF-40. I don't know much about grading these.

I think the strength of the obverse brings the overall grade to EF-45. (The reverse looks more EF-40.)

Jaobler,
Yea I would have not given that coin EF40. I would given it VF-VF+.
I have a 1926 P grade EF.. that I will try to take picture of and post tomorrow night.
I want to grade my dimes to at least AU as I have the funds, but if that 1919d is AU...I might be setting the bar too high. As my upgrades so far are likely MS (which is going to be impossible to do)
