Hey folks

Just wanted to share my recent Roosevelt purchase.

I know the pics aren't great, just wanted to show the awesome toning on this one

Do you think it is artificial or natural?

Let me know what you think, thanks!

All toning is a natural chemical process.

You should describe its market acceptability instead.

I am just stating what toning is, it is a natural process... a chemical reaction. Whether or not it had help is irrelevant, you either like it or you do not. That is, will the market find a buyer?

When you cry that a coin's toning is "unnatural" or "artificial" then where do you draw the line? Coins stored in old sulfur rich album pages stuck on a shelf for years can tone the same as ones wrapped in a damp Taco Bell napkin and warmed in an oven. The difference is intent and you cannot prove it by looking at a coin. Sure, some things have had blatant help and the market rightly rejects them.

For the record a few of my silver dimes look just like the one pictured here. I bought them at a coin shop years ago after the dealer liberated them from an old coin board he bought.
