I wanted opinions on whether or not I paid too much for this 1930 Lincoln Cent. Similar ones from the seller have sold for about $40+ in the past few days. Am I missing something? Thanks.

I would take a $20 chance on that coin in a flat second.

I wouldn't say you over paid but you paid full price for MS64RD. If the coin truly is MS65RD, then you got a great deal.

Buying raw MS coins off ebay is really a crap shoot because if the coin ends up being MS63RD then you paid twice what it's worth.

If you needed this date/MM in BU, $21.50 is not too bad a price. I'd dis-regard any seller's comment about their raw coins being Gem MS in the future however.

I always see this guy's coins and wonder how they would turn out. If you could post comparison pics afterward, that'd be cool. If its not the grade you are looking for, looks like he'll take returns no problem. Good luck! Good deal imo.

Thank you for the responses, I feel better about the purchase now. I will gladly post pictures when I receive the coin (although you should know that I am by no means a great photographer ).

This looks like a great coin indeed. Dunno if you payed too much for it but anyway this is a good deal in the long run. You might be able to sell it elsewhere afterwards...

As promised, here are the pictures of the 1930 Lincoln Cent I received from the auction above. The pictures didn't come out great, but the coin is nice. There are no spots and a good amount of luster (however, I wouldn't call it "blazing" luster as described in the auction). Overall, I'm pleased with the coin unless one of the experts here finds something wrong.

I also spoke with the seller and he said that he recently bought a roll of these 1930 cents and needed to turn them around quickly, hence the reason for several 1-day auctions.

It looks like you got an excellent deal! My only concern would be the reverse color that leans toward RB.
But from your pics this coin has a great shot at MS65RD.
