Well that looks interesting, I think that someone that a tiny bit smarter than me will be along shortly. I just can't think what caused this.

Would love to see full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. My first reaction is Die Deterioration, but can't be sure given the images posted.

An full coin photo is need for this coin. Spotting just a part less then a quarter of the coin is not enough. Please post the full photos of observe and reverse if is possible. The E show me probably the 1981 die. The small photo show more an DDD but we have to see complete portrait.
