So this is one of the '77's my grandfather gave me the other day, from the 3 rolls that had been hiding in his underwear drawer, since 1977, when someone asked him for 3 rolls while he was still workingat the bank, but never came to get em! Is that chunk thats sitting just under the steps come from the T just below? Also, the letters on the obverse, do they look kinda fat and doughy to anybody else?

I'm with @john on this that the divot in the letter T and the extra metal on the steps are two different events.

Well, what I see is MD on the obverse. Overall it the dings and gouges looks like bag or bin marks on the coin that inflicted during shipment to the next facility prior to being rolled up.

I thought at one time the 1977 LMC had an attribution for a DDO? If it was removed does anyone have info on how to look up removed listings?
Thanks!

Are you trying to tell me this coin came from an OBW roll back in 1977 ? Everything I'm seeing are hits and dings on both sides . Bag marks did not do all this damage .
Save it only for sentimental value .

Yes sir this is one of the ones out of the roll I had to open, making sure it wasn't a coincidence that all 3 had '77 P's on the end! And just about every one in the roll so far has had some lil dents and dings?

Which once again illustrates that the term "OBW" is a misnomer. There are so many circulation hits on this coin, my guess is it's been around the block more than a few times.

I agree with Merc, and others with MD. The stairs it is a hit not an Cu dispatch by the die. On this part of the coin the hit will simply crack the material.
