Excuse me db, but what exactly is a 'separated hair' error? Which side of the quarter is it talking about?
I've looked at those I have and can't even immagine what it could be referring to.

Now you did it! I must go and look at the ones in my album. Actually, I think these Nevada quarters are beautiful- I like horses. I have seen some of these Mustangs around Pahrump Nevada- I placed a bid for fun and am currently high bidder- With so many collectors clamoring after errors, I do not expect to win it. habiru001

Well, The photo of this so-called seaparated hair Nevada Quarter doesn't appear any different than any of the others I checked it against. From what I see, you say all of these new quarters have separated hair. Maybe it is my age. I simply do not see it- It will be interesting to see if Coin World picks up on this. I hope to see more comments on this one. habiru001

I agree bryan that is definitely an error lol....
Habiru I saw on one auction for this error a comparing picture that had one with the hair connected beside this picture. I'm not sure if its a real error or not thats why I asked. I'm hoping it is a real error but so far ive only seen 2 of these quarters.

Well Bryan, I can readily see this Nevada Quarter error- "Clipped planchet' since your post yesterday, the coin shows 26.00 bid- Now that is a definite error. I am still not convinced about the hair error- They all look alike to me. No question about it- errors are one hot item. habiru001 aka dewey

seems 26 bucks may have been good because item # 8398789978 is at 60 bucks now with a planchet clip error like the other one. If someone here collects clip errors the first guy seems to have a few various coins that are clip errors just look at his other auctions. he has a 1995 kenedy half with a clip on each side never seen one like that before

The "separated hair error" in discussion is probably the result of a die that was polished, removing the highest points of the crease between the upper and lower hair. It's no big deal, just another one of the very minor oddities that someone hypes up into a major error to sell on ebay. I highly doubt something like this will gain any general market acceptance, and anyone paying a premium for them will take the loss in the long run.
