Based on the pictures that are available to me, the obverse looks like it's got a weak strike to it. The reverse looks like a high AU to me. It would be nice to know what everyone else thinks about the grade of this coin. Thanks.

Agree, obverse strike quite weak for whatever reason. I'll say AU details (cleaned), not a fan.

AU-55 Details Cleaned. It looks to have some decent luster left.

coin is mid AU

plus I'm betting this coin will look way worse in hand

Aref tip...not sure if these coins are ones you are considering or if you are attempting to build your knowledge base regarding cleaned coins but dont purchase a coin where the photos are el crapo or at least check here first.

Thanks everyone for the guidance. I wanted to know the grade of this coin because I wanted to buy it. I paid $17 for the coin. Y'all might think it's too much and a waste of money, but none of you have been 8000 miles away from the USA and be in love with American coins at the same time. When I try to buy a coin from America on ebay, I have to pay $20-$30 for shipping. I want to participate in auctions that happen on ebay for American coins and when I bid I know I'm gonna win, but imagine paying $15 for a coin and then paying $30 for shipping. I ordered coins from APMEX. Total was about $800. I paid $60 for delivery and $50 upon arrival in import fees. I know I'm overpaying for these coins but I truly have no other options. And good luck finding someone who loves American coins as much as I do ;)

just a thought on your situation:

thats crazy and my recommendation is if you are going to put out more in shipping than the coin is worth I suggest looking at more high end coins where it makes more sense and instead of paying $17 for an AU possible cleaned coin (full retail on a straight coin is $17) and then add onto that the shipping and import fees, I would look at buying one higher end coin. for instance a 1917 Merc at MS63 coin would sell full retail for $62. so instead of buying 3 coins at $17 buy one at $62.

in you lifetime this coin would never be worth what you paid for it whereas at MS63 not only are you going to have a coin thats much nicer but will increase in value and shipping is not more than what the coin is worth.
