This is my first attempt to buy a commemorative from the mint. Do they sell out in minutes? Hours?
Anybody thinking of getting multiples if they can (to ship to other members for cost?) Do they sell out so fast that it is necessary?
I would be willing to co-op this way (as I'll be getting on at 12 to buy)

Nah....I don't believe that 500,000 will sell out in one day, one week, or even one month........but maybe 6 months.....maybe at the end of the year. But the Lincoln Special Set might very well sell out in an hour or a day or two......week....hard to say or predict that one.

The 2001 Buffalo Silver Dollar was a hot item, and it took ten days to sell out. I'm sure Lincoln will sell out, the question is how quickly. My money says it will take longer than 10 days. I guess we'll find out shortly...

How about the American Legacy Set that will feature Lincoln and Braille at the end of this year ? With the Lincoln attention and all of the years Proof coins contained within that Set.......might be a hot item too.

Day 4 for honest Abe. This coin collecting has really piqued my interest in Abe. Check out Looking for Lincoln (you can watch the whole thing on the PBS website).

I do not believe that the US Mint ordering system is capable of selling several hundred thousand units in a single day so a single day sell-out should not be possible. With that said, I will say that I think this issue will sell out in less than one month, possibly a couple weeks.

I wonder how many Lincoln dollars the mint is setting aside for the special Commemorative Set and the Legacy Set. I know there will only be 50,000 for the special Commemorative Set. But how many do you think will be set aside for the Legacy set?
I'm just thinking that if the proof dollar is the only one that is being set aside for both sets and if each set will have a total of 50,000 Commemorative dollars in it, then we are a lot closer to a sell out.

Yeah.....that's what I was wondering as well.....good point ! Quote: Coin Specifications: Weight: 26.73 grams Diameter: 1.500 inches Composition: 90 percent Silver; balance Copper Mintage Limit: 500,000 (across all product options)
So this "includes" the American Legacy Set and the Special Lincoln 5 coin Set. Yes....they must be even closer to selling out than I realized ! And that Am. Legacy Set is usually only available in what....December or so and then is "unavailable" very quickly....like 30 days later or something....it's gone ! So.... how many American Legacy Sets will be minted ?.......anybody know ?
