No comparison yours 65RD ; PCGS 67RD .

Your coin certainly looks MUCH better using the pictures. The PCGS example has some obverse field distractions, the reverse fields are distracting as well as what looks to be a strike through on the cornice. Also, the steps are not fully struck and the strike weakness hurts the field below the memorial. That said, I suspect the PCGS coin has blazing luster, I don't know how else it could make 67 based on the pictures provided.
I agree with you, your coin is at least = to the posted example and I contend the grade finalizer intentionally kept your coin out of 67.

So your coin is the second one? I'll say MS-67RD.

Looking again, your coin has several hits on the memorial columns and one on the cornice I missed.

based on what I'm reading in the comments your coin is the second one. if so your coin is better and as Badthad stated the steps and field marks below them should not be indicative of an MS67 coin. if thats the case then your would grade MS67+ imo.

Nice steps on the memorial on yours, very clean, I could see it having a shot at 67, but as always, it is very much the opinion of the grader that comes into play. Personally I hate memorial cents from the 60's, the master dies were trash. Even the proofs are blah.

Even if the PCGS coin (first one) has luster there is too much going on with the reverse. I totally understand that TPGS sometimes make mistakes. My beef is the fact that PCGS would post this as a gauge to use for a submission from you or me . Clearly not a 67 coin in my opinion. After 80 submissions to PCGS I have a ms- 66 down pat. All I have to do is think the coin I am submitting is higher than a 66 (at least 90% of the time). Sort of false advertising in a way. More experienced collectors will tell me to wait "until you know what you are doing". Very sound advice, however I will add that spending money will definitely make me pay close attention.

With some exceptions they do not give anymore high grade. they apply same standard for all coins indifferent of the year struck, which me I consider is complete wrong. Same standard for the new coins zinc plated with cooper coins? Give me a brake.
I will slab myself the coin and keep safe, waiting that the grading industry will return at the normal.
Gross: you are correct in your reflections.
