In addition to the Morgan dollars, I also bought some Peace dollars. This here is the nicest looking of the bunch. What do you think?

Generally I find the Peace dollars very hard to grade. The details are very soft even on the obviously uncirculated ones, and the mint luster seems to be different / weaker than with the Morgan dollars. But maybe I just bought the wrong coins....

I certainly agree with you. I have a hard time being consistent grading the peace design.

Not sure if the hairline scratches are on the coin or the plastic holder. You may want to consider adding photos of the coin without the holder, so you can get more accurate results.

I give this coin a grade of MS-63.

Thank you.

I removed the cap before making the pictures. There is no plastic between the coin and the lens.

Peace dollars had striking issues and it differs year to year and mint. if you are going to collect these I suggest studying them to be able to tell wear from strike or posting here prior to buying them.

that aside, this one is nice looking coin. since you removed to top of the holder I can assume the scratches are in fact on the coin. the long scratch across the tail could details the coin. depending on the luster I would grade her MS63. may grade straight
