I read a post a couple of months ago that mentioned a diffuser that I believe the poster said was made by Schott. I looked that up and couldn't find any items that looked suitable for coin photos. I have a Tomlov camera and it has it's own LED's, both around the lense and also 2 auxiliaries on the side. But they are harsh and blue-ish and don't render natural coin tone. Any suggestions?

A quick solution is to place translucent white plastic or white tracing paper between the light source and the subject. LEDs around a lens makes that hard--unless the LED ring can be removed. Adjusting white balance settings can mitigate the blue-ish issue.

Good advice from @ijn1944.

I tried to use external lighting some of the USB scopes but they were "tuned" for their internal lighting, and white balance was impossible to compensate. If your scope has a white balance adjust capability, you could disable your internal lights and build a diffuser for use with external lights, thus giving you a lot more flexibility. But if you can't do white balance, you are pretty much stuck with the internal lights unless you're willing to shoot with a gray reference background and adjust white balance on each shot.
