I apologize if this has been posted a million times but I cant find it. I usually search halves but decided I have off tomorrow and wife is working so I will be bored so I'm gonna go get penny rolls and search. Can someone give me a very quick rundown of what to look for. I know about the obvious 1955 double die. Am I correct in saying that 1982 and prior are copper? Also, what exactly is a Wheat penny. Is it the penny with the two wheat leaves on the back? (i sound like such a asking that but I want to be positive. LOL)Is there a reason that wheaties are kept? Value? Just because? thank you very much for your help in advance

ok Jim this is the lil that I know about LWC (lincoln wheat cents) 1909-1958
a lucky find in today's change the reason they are kept is because they don't make em anymore now the LMC ( Lincoln Memorial cent) 1959-2008 there are bizzions of them and some folks are keeping pre 1982 cents for the hopes of copper rising (poor mans bullion)it seems to run just under 25% of the cents out there are copper because of this practice actually is the more modern coins I pay the closest attention to. after the 82's I look for double die reverse of 83 the double ear of 84 then the Close AM of AMERICA on 92 and the Wide AM of 98,99,00
i found a '00 WAM ( Wide AM) last weekend
hope this helps

btw they dont like the word penny here dang if I know why maybe because it sez cent on the back but I may be wrong
