I am not surprised. The more and more I look into any government "service" there is not much consequence for one who does not perform to a set standard. As far as a standard, they are not enforced, due to really no consequence.

You are not going to believe the 3 sets of 2022 I received. Every coin in each set has been dug into by the robots that put the coins in the sets. All twenty coins in the P and D uncirculated sets have 4 equally spaced gouges where the robots picked up the coins to place them in the set. I can't win. I don't know if you can see from the terrible pictures I have posted.

The coins should not be damaged, its the new packaging that appears that way on first glance. At first glance, it looks like every single coin had rim damage at the 10-2-4-8 o'clock positions, BUT when you look closer there are indentations in the plastic blister pack for each coin in those locations to keep the coins in place and not rotate (but as you can see by this thread, that didnt work either very well in some cases). This packaging was discussed only once on this forum here http://goccf.com/t/424921

The coins I discussed above, mostly philadelphia just appear to be like circulated a few days condition in some cases,, but not damaged as you were thinking.

Saturn, as I stated in an up post. I thought that too. So I took a razor and cut the plastic to see the damage. There is no damage to the coins, it just really looks like it.

@Saturn, few days ago I put here the way how the modern coins are done and pack. The packing for sets is done by robots. the coins are move by air suction and not with fingers. I have no idea who spread those fake, imaginary ideas. Complete insane for me.

It is my belief, as I explained up-stream in this topic, that the 'dimples' are supposed to hold the coin in place with minimal contact

@Saturn, I thought the same thing about the dimples. Then I noticed that every coin had the same markings at the same positions. After a quick search, I learned about the new packaging. I think your coins are fine.

@Parnelli: You are right. They do those things just to hold the coins not to move inside the package.

Me I have other problem with those sets. According with Mint production rules, the uncirculated coins must been struck on polish blanc. what I see is almost no difference between sets and rolls except some bag or been nicks. Do they cut this step to be more faster/ I have no idea.

@Saturn: Unfortunately, the coins in my uncirculated sets all had bag marks, scratches and gouges. While it is common in uncirculated coins to find these imperfections, it seems like the level of quality has certainly dropped in these sets. I may put a stop to my enrollments.

This is from the US Mint website: "If for any reason within 7 days of receiving your product you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you can return the entire product for refund. Shipping charges will not be refunded for all returns. If your order included a free accompanying item, please see our FAQ for additional instructions."
