I will send back the set to be replace. Two coins to be one over the other with difference in diameter and metal composition do not sound really nice for the coins.
Do I see a quarter under the cent? All the coins are there. The mint set for 20 coins P and D mints marks are only 25 dollars and 25 cents or really only half that for the whole set. I would think that you could sell such a mishap for more than that.
There has been other packaging errors such as two wilma mankiller quarters in the denver card and therefore missing one of the quarters that. should be included in the set. There are also photos of sets with other shifted - not missing coins, one with Sally Ride. There are people who collect packaging errors and sell pretty well, but not sure about these shifted ones which indicates mainly more work needs to be done on the new packaging or quality control, even with the new dimples-indentations in 4 locations on the blister for each coin to keep the coin in place during transit and not rotate or shift.
No don't send it back. That's a very strange packaging error. With the new packaging I don't think anyone can try to duplicate this without destroying the plastic. Gotta be worth some kind of premium. And data, the dimpling would have to damage that quarter, I would think.
Yeah, for me it is just a fun keeper. Possibly an example of a quality improvement process (the plastic dimples at four places around each coin) that failed. I hope that the new mint director can push the quality improvement process.
@datadragon, I hadn't seen the "Inspector #12" commercial in a long time. Thanks!
Its unfortunate as mintage is capped at 250,000 making it the third lowest uncirculated mint set since 1959's 187,000, 2020's 211,788, and 1961's 223,704. The 2022 Mint Set also has 6 coins with designs only to be used this year, the Native American $1 Coin and the 5 quarters. The uncirculated set uses the same process as circulating coins but with a slightly higher coining force for a brilliant finish so I would think they should be listed different than the business strike in grading. Its called a mint set and intended for collectors yet many are reporting poor quality on the coins they received, mostly the Philadelphia (and Innovation Dollars have also had issues with circulated coins) so if you see a good set IN PERSON grab it, both for the set due to mintage and possible grading for the individual coins if listed separately due to quality issues. I wouldnt trust online sellers with generic photos for the set. The 'dimples' on the blister also can make it look like damage on the coin. Yes, I guess they need to hire inspector 12! Classic commercial.
