I have never considered withdrawing a bid before now, but now I am. I did a search "Susan B. Anthony Proof roll" and found a listing "1979-s gem proof Susan B. Anthony roll", there was a low bid on it so I entered a small bid, thinking since there was no resrve mentioned I might snag a bargain. After re-visiting the site I now think it is only an individual coin, though that is not mentioned, plus the description says 1980 not 79, though a 79 is pictured. Sent email to seller saying I was disappointed in the listing title as it was misleading and that I was thinking of withdrawing my bid...

does this sound like I have a legit beef or should I let it go, my max bid is $5 plus $1 shipping so the most I could be out is $6 (if I win)..I may be slightly guilty of not doing due diligence and reading the entire post and email prior to bidding...what do you think?

What makes you think it is only a single coin if it says roll? Also if the title and pic show 1979 it could be the description that is wrong. It is easy to make a mistake if you are listing lots of similar items. Do they have other similar items for sale?
Have they responded to your email to clarify?

Well it's your own fault for not reading the entire auction first. However everyone one of us has made Numerous ebay mistakes so if the auction isn't that old then I'd ask to withdraw your bid based on a description not matching the picture

My massage therapist says I'm getting better at sugar-coating things....how'd I do?

thanxz, I think you have a better therapist than I do. He did a phrenology of my brain and there is a large part starting at the brain stem and going almost to the front cortical lobes that is labeled "blast the He.. out of anything that moves"

A sugar coated baseball bat between the eyes

I see the confusion, I think it could have been an honest mistake if it was supposed to be "1979-S GEM PROOF Susan B. Anthony dollar comma ROLL VARIETY 1"

My guess is that the description is wrong, because there is no 1980 varieties.

A reputable dealer would let you withdraw the bid, plus you are only out $5 if you win, since you are getting $1 back as the coin.

I've done it before and not worried for a couple of dollars. It's not an excessive price for a reminder to "read the entire auction first", especially if you fill a hole.

I'm just going to let it ride and see what happens. what makes me think this is a single coin and not a roll is that this seller has a bunch of similar auctions running. When I first looked at it I saw it as an auction for a roll with no minium and no reserve so I made a token bid, have won some good items that way.

There is no mention in the listing to distinquish it as a single or a roll. to me it implies a roll in the title.

Got a response from the seller, said the auction is for a single coin and not a roll, said he appreciated me pointing out the confusion in the listing, ignored my possiblity of withdrawing my bid. Like I said before, going to let it ride but will not purchase from him again due to the possibility of confusion in the listing/description.

I saw the listing and I would have no problem with you retracting your bid had you entered a bid of what a single 1979-S SBA would retail for times 20.
