Hi all. I have found a few of these cents with ring marks and I'm not sure what to make of them. Die scratches or something else? I have found a couple of the 1996 D cents with concentric lathe lines on the obverse and also a 1988 D Jefferson nickel with them, but these look a little different. What do you guys think of these.

Thanks for looking, Mike

(#1)1996 D Ring marks mostly behind memorial, also can be seen on the field under the outer devices.

(#2) 1996 D Ring marks behind memorial and I think this one might be a doubled die?

2004 Heavy ring marks dead center only. This coin is a mess!

I call these lathe marks. The die was turned, but not polished enough to remove the deeper lathe turning marks. A nice set you have there. I find them interesting.

Coop is right as usual:-) I like these. I think that they are generally pretty darn scarce.

I agree, they have a certain appeal to them. Nice examples, thanks for sharing.

The 1996 Cent is the most impressive. I have one but no image of it right now. Sounds like a project sometime soon.
