A recent pick up here that really caught my eye. I have to thank Tropicalbats for his many split planchet posts educating me on how to spot these errors. It weighs in at 1.51g. There is some PMD on obverse (light scratches running NS) and reverse (gouge) which was visible on the photos given but the eye appeal is there still I think. The split side of the planchet struck on obverse gives this coin a great look and I think TB would agree. It's questionable whether or not this is a "1960" but to me it looks like, with the little evidence given, it is the right curve and location for a "0".

I like how the reverse was affected as well. Nice find.

The fields on the obverse seem to have struck up fairly nice, considering it's @ 50% of the normal weight.

Thanks stoneman227, they are very similar though yours is in better condition. I like how the Lincoln statue is struck up on reverse in these examples among the surrounding weakness. Yours looks to be a bit heavier than mine. Whats the weight on that?

Yes I agree. A great coin and almost certainly a 1960. Split planchet errors are awesome and your new one is super nice. Love it!

Still doing 7 days a week, long days/nights. Bat season ends Aug 15 so will finally get to see my family again in two more weeks. Won't be done with some away projects until end of October though, so still just checking in here when I have a minute, like now at 5am when I really should be getting to bed. zzzzzzzz

I got lucky and plucked mine from a mint sewn bag of 1960-D's . You must have some accurate scales in those eyes as mine weights 1.6g !
