It looks like contact marks from a circulation hit or two. Just Post Strike Damage PSD as it didn't happen when the coin was struck.

I too am thinking post-strike damage. A well-lit, sharp closeup of the reverse feature might tell us more.

That is from a hit from the reeding on another coin, quite common.
Not sure of your question about the columns, they look normal.
