below a 1769 Osella, Alvise IV Mocenigo, 118st doge of the Republic of Venice. This piece was mounted in a contemporary setting (18th c) for use as a pendant jewel/  OBV Alvise IV Mocenigo sitting & looking to the left, holding shield in right hand - below right sits the Venetian lion HINC ROBUR ET SECURITAS in exergue the medalmakers' initials V A B REV 6-lined text in wreath: ALOYSIO MOCENICO PRINC:VENE:MUNUS AN VII DOMINO 1769 the piece is a perfect companion to the broche of 1779 I posted 10 days ago (see below the obverse sides of the two pieces (broche and pendant) together) the procedure of manufacture of the mounting is similar, probably the same goldsmith by sheer coincidence, two pieces that were mounted more than two centuries ago became separated by the Atlantic ocean, but in 2018 came together again; I wear them on official banquets in Italy since then. :-)  |

1768 HW - Margraviate & Duchy of Baden - 10 Kreuzer (1/12 Thaler) Karl Friedrich. 1767 takes us to Aachen and the Austrian Netherlands. Another Lion to see. 1767 - Aachen - 12 Heller   1767 - Austrian Netherlands - Escalin (Schelling, or 1/9 Kronenthaler) Brussels mint. Maria Theresia It has a gouge on one side but is otherwise ok.
