You have an extensive collection of Arabic text coins bd251, well done.

Thanks. I blame (thank) HFBCWG being stuck at 1460 for a long time. I learned to read the Arabic dates so I could browse ebay more quickly for AH 864. When I got my first shipment of Indian Sultanate coins, I was kind of hooked.

You are quickly building quite the collection yourself. Your AH 828 coin is a beauty.

Here's the first of my last stretch of Jaunpur tankas. What I like about these in particular is that they all have very similar surfaces and patina, so I suspect they've been together for quite some time.

I agree, excellent Arabic/Islamic coins from both of you!

Very much looking forward to the 15th and 14th century coverage in the 8th edition (in two years or so) - if both of you keep up we're probably going to see most (maybe even all?) years in that range covered by dated coins by then (either AD or Islamic).
...I'll try my best to also contribute if I manage to visit my leftover collection in Moscow by then. You'd probably see a lot of coins posted for ID...

Here is a French Blanc that is datable to 1423 AD (beginning in January of that year). The ragged flan is unfortunate. I have attributed it as Duplessy 462 and Roberts 3002.

a tragedy.... or a miracle (ack. to Ren)

I understand your thoughts, Spence.
I see it as the character of this coin, it's another beauty.

Agreed that it adds character. It makes me wonder about how ragged it was before someone clipped/shaved the edge to harvest a little silver.

Yes, who knows how it might have been.
Great contributions, and this edition is building up some steam.

I don't have too many AH-dated coins for the 15th Century, but here is one: an Akce from Mecca, dated--in retrograde numerals--as 825 (1422 AD). I have attributed it as Album 1302.2.

For 1422 AD, I also have this French Billon Blanc which is datable to this year. it was minted in Rouen and I have attributed it as Duplessy 445 and Roberts 2963.
