A very questionable entry, here's a British 1962 sixpence - serving as the scale background for a 5th century Roman AE4. I missed my 1968 entry due to low activity, but I have pre-photographed entries for the next several years (1961, 1960, 1959, 1958) - with all except 1960 being alone on their pics - and will try not to miss them!

1961 was a interesting year in NZ, the Halfcrown and Florin were issued for the first time in 8 years. The Halfcrown is the most scarce date of it and 3rd lowest mintage NZ coin after the 1935 Waitangi Florin and 1935 Threepence. Close up of the Halfcrown 1961 Aussie Penny, ½d and shilling A very nice Australian Florin with guaranteed different obverse

1961 was unusual as it was the first year in the 20th century that the UK issued no halfpennies for curculation! All other coins were issued - the penny was the first since 1953. The 1961 Scottish shilling, like that of 1965, is quite scarce but not particularly valuable as large numbers were saved at the time by collectors: Scottish shilling: France issued its short-lived stainless-steel 5 centimes for the first time: The only other coins issued in France were the franc and the silver 5 francs: Another short-lived new coinage introduced in 1961 was the first South African decimal series, including the brass halfpenny-sized half-cent and penny-sized one cent. These were only minted until 1964:
