I got a 2007 mint set off the intert a while ago. I was looking through the Dollar Coin edges and found that on the James Madison P dollar coin the edge looks like this: * 2007 PE PLURIBUS UNUM * IN GOD WE TRUST (with the * being the dot)- The P and the E are almost overlapping and there is a large space between the T in TRUST and the dot before 2007. Is this an error? THANKS
It is caused by slippage as the coin goes through the edge lettering process. I also have written about them in my online newsletter and I have a few here. They are pretty scarce and to date I haven't seen one from the Denver Mint.
Here is the picture. It is of the P (For the Philadelphia Mint) and the E (In E PLURIBUS UNUM). It looks like the P and the E are overlapping. Sorry if the photos are not the best.
Sorry, I didn't know the image would be so small. Had to make the KB small enough so that I could upload the image on to the website. Thanks again for all your responses!
