James Madison Improperly Spaced Lettering?

ErrorCoins222 Pillar of the Community United States 1699 Posts	Posted 02/17/2009 9:06 pm I got a 2007 mint set off the intert a while ago. I was looking through the Dollar Coin edges and found that on the James Madison P dollar coin the edge looks like this: * 2007 PE PLURIBUS UNUM * IN GOD WE TRUST (with the * being the dot)- The P and the E are almost overlapping and there is a large space between the T in TRUST and the dot before 2007. foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 02/18/2009 4:26 pm Hi, It is an error. It is caused by slippage as the coin goes through the edge lettering process. I also have written about them in my online newsletter and I have a few here. They are pretty scarce and to date I haven't seen one from the Denver Mint. Some even have the lettering overlapped.
