Help!
I've been searching for coins collecting supplies and I'm starting to get crazy. It started off simple enough, I need some 2x2s for my collection and I started wondering what exactly I need. Do I need some for each of these: Penny, Dime, Nickle, Quarter, Halves and arge Dollars. Or do some of you put pennies and dimes in nickles?
I was also going to get some coin pages to put in a 3 ring binder, but notice several different varieties and can't decide. The budget says go for the cheapest, but I don't want it not to be enjoyable. Here's what I'm looking at:
Supersafe Archival Pages -- 20 Pocket (2x2) $0.94 each Supersafe Vinyl Pages -- 20 Pocket (2x2) $0.86 Cowens Vinyl Pages -- 20 Pocket (2x2)$0.65 Economy Vinyl Pages -- 20 Pocket (2x2)Our price: $0.55 Polypropylene 20-Pocket 2x2 Pages $0.23
Which one would you get, I'm thinking about the 0.55 kind. The cheaper might not be very good and I'm not sure the others are really that much better.
Also, I was going to get this stuff from Wizard Supply Company. Anybody know anything about them one way or the other?
Thanks for helping me transition my collection from a shoe box to a real collection format. I look forward to hearing your advice.

I normally buy Nickel 2x2's for my cents/dimes/nickels. Then i'll buy Prez dollar 2x2's for dollars/quarters. I dont really like my 2x2 to be very snug to the coin, but thats just me. So I usually buy a few different size to fit most all coins.
I would recommend the Cowens 2x2 pages as they are very nice and sturdy. Thad told me to buy those and those only and I must agree. Very good product, takes alot of rip them. Wizard coins is good from what most people say. I shop at valleycoin.com mostly because they are a mile from my house, good dealers online too.
Good luck!

Check out Wizard Coin Supply. They are web based and have a good product line at very reasonable prices.

I bought some 2x2 mylar/cardboard flips and pocket sheets from Ohio Coins (ohcoins.com). They also have an ebay store. I always compare prices and S&H between the ebay store and their own website. They seemed to have decent prices. -- Boris

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm buying Nickel 2x2's for my cents/dimes/nickels, small dollar 2x2's for dollars/quarters, halves for halves and large dollars for them. Instead of pages right now, I'll get a few boxes. My wife's also talked me into getting a loupe. Anyone know anything about the Bausch & Lomb Coddington Loupe 14X Model No.: 816135? I've got some other things too which all adds up. Anyone got a Wizard Supply coupon code they would share?

Nevermind. I already bought the Loupe. If it's not good, don't tell me. And, I don't need coupon code. I couldn't resist finishing the purchase so I can get my stuff!!

In case someone is reading this and getting started themselves, I also bought a stapler that makes flat staple bends or whatever you say for my 2x2s.
Now, I've been searching around, but can't find the answer. Should I do anything to the coins before placing them in the 2x2 or just put them in there? I've read about dipping them in alcohol or something before hand to remove any oils and such. I don't think I want to rub them with a soft towel do I? What should be done?
Thanks, AlabamaDan

Only thing I do is dip them in pure acetone. But its not necessary all the time. Better off not rubbing the coin at all. Make sure you are wearing cotton gloves when handling your coins, this will reduce any oils transferring from your hands to the coin.
%90 of the coins I put in 2x2's never touched acetone either, so its completely up to you. As far as the stapler, I just use a normal one with a pliers ;) The replacement staples seem too expensive.

I purchased a MAX HD-50F stapler for around $10 US and it uses standard staples. Bends them over nice and flat No problems yet with it.

My stapler uses standard staples and it's a good thing at 4 staples per 2x2 they don't last long. I got my stuff last night and was like a kid in a candy store. I was a little disappointed in my tubes however. I thought they would hold coins in their roll and while they had the diameter, they weren't tall enough. Also, one of those 2x2 boxes I ordered was damaged. We'll see what they say.
I was pleased with my 2x2s and started mounting some coins right away. Do you review your coins in detail and grade them before putting them away?

I guess thats up to you. If you feel you need a raw coin to grade, then grade them first. I think grading in a 2x2 is just fine and makes for safer handling. One thing to consider is if you are taking pictures of these coins, maybe take a pic first as it is easier to take raw. At least I found it easier.
Hopefully they will send you another box for free! :0

Quote: I have had great business with Brent-Krueger, although their shipping is a bit high for single item purchases. They have great customer service as well.
On another post someone posted this place. I've seen their name mentioned many times as a great place to buy things. I never have yet but from what everyone has said, supposed to be OK.
