Hello CCF, I bought this for 150 (yay for summer jobs!) a long time ago when I was in high school, knowing it was cleaned. I liked the details and the look of the obverse, which is arguably better.

I wouldn't buy this coin now, but it represents my childhood collection. What would you guys call it? Despite the basically 0 percent chance of straight grading, is it worth submitting one day?

Thanks.

Is the dark mark in the right obverse field a cut or just a streak?

Thankfully, Coinfrog, it is just a streak!

The biggest problem for me is the denomination numerals '50' especially the '5'. Perhaps a Grease Filled Die. Even if an error, that does not help the coin in this case.
I will accept a coin in any grade or details, provided the price is advantageous,
but the date for me in this case, holds my overall equivalent grade perception down to somewhere around F12 money.

That should be the basis upon which it should be submitted to a TPG, if that is what you are considering, and to justify grading and shipping fees.

Somewhat of a pity. I do like the obverse.

Not a Grease Filled Die, just a weak strike.

XF details cleaned, shame because it looks like a nice coin.

i agree with the consensus of XF40 details. nice rounded cheek and sharp date along with the eagle head and shield are all pointing to an XF coin. this is a coin that some folks here are going to scratch their head as to why we are giving this coin an XF grade.

Easy XF, but details. I would not spend the $$ on getting it graded.

Agree with XF details, cleaned. Nice to have a coin that is one of your earliest acquisitions, but I don't think there is a benefit to get it graded.

Keep it raw. A lot of collectors don't like slabbed coins so they can examine and study the variety in hand.
