So I have another interesting quarter in my collection that I stumbled on one day. I believe it was given to me in change if I remember correctly and I am pretty sure I have had it since the year 2000 when it was first minted.

I've heard or read a lot of things on spotting the difference between intentional damage to coin verses something that happens in the mint, or during transport from the mint, so to the more seasoned coin hunters out there what are some of the hallmarks to look for in mint damage verses intentional damage?

Intentional damage to the coin. Not a mint error.

I'm sure you mean a Mint Error vs damage.
An error can only occur during the actual striking of the coin, so anything that happens after that is damage.
The fact that your coin is bent and the rims are damaged indicate that this happened after the coin was struck and
you can't always distinguish between intentional damage and PMD but it doesn't really matter because damage is damage.

My way of telling a lot of damage is that if there is a hole or gouge with built-up of metal, it's damage 99.99% of the time.

Most likely intentional damage to the quarter, certainly post-mint. Not sure why the nickel pics are attached.
