This coin is just too common. Even if it did grade at MS-64 Red it would only be worth about $8. You can buy a '56-D graded by PCGS in MS-65 Red for $10 to $20 on ebay almost any day.

This coin in MS-66+ Red has a price guide value on PCGS of only $65 mostly because there are lots of them out there in great condition. The mintage for this coin was 1,098,201,100 so only the best of the best would be worth grading.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I dont suggest grading it, stick it in a Lincoln Cent album collection. If you look at NGC price guide, you will notice that you would have to grade a very high MS66RD to recoup the value of the cost of the grading. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...es/cents/99/
That is not a common grade you will come across even when you think its in that condition and others agree it may still not grade that high. The value after grading will be less then you paid for grading it which is ok if its for a personal collection but not for reselling. The main reason to grade a coin would be when most all of the possible values shown after grading is given are higher then the grading cost, otherwise you are speculating that you have the unusual or rare very high graded modern coin. If its only the top grade or those MS66 and up that has value over grading fees which happens on alot of modern coins, my advice is to avoid grading those as a novice which will save you lots of money in the long run. Perhaps after you learn awhile you can send in a couple for fun instead of lottery tickets and see how you do.

I'd say AU-58 as well. Definitely not red.
