Good find!
A few years ago, a dealer-friend sold me a 1794
Half Cent that he'd found in a bulk lot of world coins. He'd previously found a CN
Three Cent piece that turned out to be a Chinese counterfeit. However, the
Half Cent was genuine and in G-VG condition with a decent planchet to boot.
I think the underlying reason that early
Half Cents and better U.S. coins occasionally turn up in world coin lots is that many dealers view coins as commercial commodities. Thus, they fail to see the tree in the forest. They're focused on "product" as opposed to spending time, studying what's passing through their hands.
