So figured I'd toss up another Cud as always fun coins. But turned out to be a bit of a lesson. See, that Cud catches the eye and I totally missed the wheel marks on the coin, which are pretty obvious and right next to the Cud. It's pretty easy to get distracted by the error/variety and miss something else that would have been obvious on a regular coin. I only saw those marks when cropping the coin pics, not when actually looking at it.

That's a very nice example. That wheel mark actually blends in really well with the wheat stock, so not crazy distracting at least.

I agree with CH27, The damage blends in well with the design as I didn't notice it until I read your post. Nice Cud!

Thanks! I find it amazing how many pre Cuds there are around the wheats across the entire series, but not many actually lost the broken piece to form a Cud. Yes its the anvil die so would have to pop up and out, but given the striking pressure that would seem fairly likely to happen.

Note on the obverse under the last 'T' in trust, there is an area of the rim that is not as strong. That is the opposite area of the coin where the Cud is. Most of the time, the devices are weaker, but your coin is still showing that, but not as strong as when the devices are present.

Your coin shows that, but just not as strong. (A clue that this is a real Cud coin)
