Another recent counterfeit purchase. This one was listed as a genuine 1916-P (missed the mark on a couple counts). I actually overlooked the counterfeit aspect of this coin initially as well as I was so caught up on the rotated die clash! Thanks to 1buff2many, who I shared the auction link with, noticed the "skinny leg" pretty quick. This is a contemporary counterfeit that received its title from the right rear "skinny leg" of the Buffalo.

VERY extreme die clash on this one, with about a 45 degree rotation (seen in my last image). The couple other examples myself and 1buff2many have (not clashed) only have about a 5-10 degree rotation. Weight is 4.9 g.

Just thought I'd share. Feel free to share any images of your "skinny leg" if you have one. Would be curious how many other extreme clashed examples are out there.

Ty2020b thanks for sharing the great images of this one and perspective of the die rotation, it is an amazing clash and great pickup. It took a lot of staring at this one to get past the eye-catching clash to see the "skinny buffalo" design, besides that rear leg that gives this one that name there are a couple other diagnostics, the flat belly on the reverse along with the missing designer initial (No F) and odd straight die crack? on the obverse around 9K, harder to see with all the clashing and it is wider (later stage) than other examples I have seen. Also, never remember seeing a clashed example so I think this is a pretty rare one, maybe one of the last skinny buffalos.

A lot of story to tell with this one, very cool.
