Hello everyone, I have been MIA for a long time but that doesn't mean that I haven't been hunting because I hunt a lot more now than I did but with all your guys help and expertise I just got better at identifying errors. Thanks for that! I could use some help with this one though. I know about the 2009D DDR DOC quarter as I was lucky enough to find one and have it in my collection. The question is what is your guys opinion on this 2009P DOC quarter. There is definitely something going on in the same area as the 2009D even though it isn't exactly the same do you think it could be a DDR? I checked variety vista but didn't see one that matches up to this one. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Chris and sorry about the horrible pictures I just got a new microscope, and the light is so dang bright it is giving me troubles even when I turn it down.

Well, there is a lot going on in that area. Lots of linear raised areas like the one you reference. Other things that come to mind are a possible trail die, die damage, or maybe even a counter clash? I'm guessing this is one that will need to be sent in so it can be seen in hand by the professionals.

(I'm interested to hear what others say since I'm not into quarters.)

Thinking a die clash and or a worn die. You will need to put a filter over your lights or just turn them off and use a handheld led flashlight with a filter over it.

I submitted a similar coin to yours a while back and apparently nobody seemed to think it was interesting. Go figure.

Thanks for all the information fellas. As always, I appreciate it very much. I have another one kind of like this one as well, but you can see it better on this version. Yeah, John I will have to figure out the light thing because that drove me nuts and took much longer than it should have.

fplagge that is identical to mine but yours is in better condition so you can see it a little better. Let me know if you ever find anything out, please.
Sorry, everyone I forgot how to directly reply to a comment, which means it has been way too long.

Looks more like a DDR to me. It maybe a new listing?

Clash marks don't rise above the fields. They usually show an outline on the outer edges of the design.

Came to post 020 It has a slight vertical off of the first L, yours looks to have 3 vertical lines. Maybe a new one?

Can someone remind me how to reply to a comment with a direct quote on here.

Also, thanks Coop for that picture, you always have such good illustrations, and it really helps. Very knowledgeable and thanks for sharing it. Should I submit this for clarification and how would I even go about doing that? Sending it in that is.

There are a number of reverse varieties on both the P and D with the Denver WDDR-001 (not the Philadelphia WDDR-001) being my favorite. https://www.doubleddie.com/65301.html

I agree with Coop that WDDR-020 was close but not an exact match. so perhaps a submission could be done. https://www.doubleddie.com/402401.html

As far as quoting, you can click the second top right icon in the full reply mode and then you would have to highlight and copy the text from the original message you want to quote with (CTRL+C) then paste (CTRL+V) into the new message within the two quote brackets. Sometimes I will manually copy and add or type in the user name just prior to the text quote I copied. Here I added Hail24: before the text I copied and pasted in between the quote brackets that are added once you click the second top right icon. You can also just use something like @Hail24 and type your message instead of doing the quoting stuff.

There are several DDRs in this location for the DC quarter. Check Wexler's and see if you can match it, or it may be a new listing.

Thank you so much I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I love this site so many helpful people.

Well, I sent the two 2009P DOC quarters I had into Wexler early this afternoon before I left for work. I didn't see either one of them on the list so maybe I might get 2 new quarters attributed That would be pretty cool as this is a first for me. I have had both the quarters for a while now, so I am surprised they are not in there already. I actually found your favorite one a little after finding these 2 which was of course the 2009D DDR-001. It is my favorite coin I have found so far and will stay with me for a while as I know it is rare. Since I have been gone from the site for a while if I get some time this weekend I will post a picture of it for you guys to see. I also have a really amazing nickel I found a couple weeks ago with 2 really nice errors on the same coin that I might post some pictures of.

Thanks again to everyone for all the comments and the help. I will keep everyone updated on the results of the 2 quarters I sent in and be posting some pictures of a couple nice errors I have found in the last year I have been absent from the site. Thanks Chris

Good Luck on your submission. Many dont know how to submit or just dont take or have the time to do so, instead just throw it into their collection as most are casual collectors.

Keep in mind that John has some health issues. So it might take longer than you may think. But he will let you know.
