I use first GUIFFID software. You has the free one more hard to go on same dimensions, but works. The PRO version will do automatically.

Nice Find!

@Dearborn, Frank Gasparo designed the reverse side of the Lincoln Cent from 1959-2008. So his letters "FG" appear on the rear of the coin near the right side of the columns. It is referred to as Bold Lettering instead of the thinner lettering. This bold lettering is a mistake. It was intended for 1989 coins. The 1988 D bold lettering is harder to find.

Here is the differences in the lettering. The bold FG (top) has a serif on the G. .It is the extra metal that points back and the bold FG is also closer to the base of the monument:

To understand the value of the transitional coins. From minterrornews.com (The prices was not up-graded and is an exhaustive list, but a good idea of what the serious collector look for):

And now I will give you an example. 2 coins 1964 but we have transitional. Both PROOF. The proofs are the most rarest.

Very nice find and Air-Tite capsule worthy. I have found 1 D and two or three P.

It is a lot easier when you know what to look for on these different reverse dies. The AME on America is different:
1988-Lincoln-D-Transitional-FG
The shape of the 'G' is different on the RDV-005 and the RDV-006
1988-Lincoln-D-Transitional-FG
1988-Lincoln-D-Transitional-FG
Also if the mintmark is weak, it is a RDV-005. The RDV-006 has the full strength of the "FG".

CoopHome: How can I tell the RDV-005 and RDV-006 on the 1988 cents? devices are different on AME and the 'FG'

Just what we all do everyday. I want you to see what I see. Images are the best ways to train our eyes. This thread is a new one I added to the threads I added to the CoopHome links. Added 12 new threads today. Trying to make it easier for others also to attach these links to thread when I'm not here. Note I'm using the question in bold and the answer also not in caps. That makes easier to find these to post on the forum. When searching for these, start of the back and work to lower number last. Best way to see something, is to train the eyes.

@Coop Maybe one day I may be able to see and recognize all the things on coins that you
and some of the rest of the guys see. Lol! I have already learned alot from everyone. But your 100% absolutely right. Once your eyes have been trained to detect things they recognize them right away with no hesitation and sometimes they can also detect multiple things at once. Thanks so much for the threads and all of the ones that you take time to prepare and present. Every piece of information is most valuable, welcomed, and appreciated!

Sam mentioned the die state. That's the first thing I look for. All the dies that they used for the 89 reverses didn't get used enough to show any wear.
