Hello everyone,

I have not seriously started searching yet, but any leads on this one would be appreciated...it's priced stupid high (€195).

It's about the size of a thumbnail.

Best,

R.

I have no clue how much the brooch is worth. You may already know the coin is a common late Roman bronze, can't tell which emperor but likely one of Constantine's sons. The reverse shows two soldiers and a Chi-Rho standard, symbol of Christ. By itself the worn coin isn't worth much.

It's an interesting looking piece, and there are definitely collectors that will buy something like it.
The price seems very high unless there's some really compelling provenance.

Not even sure if the coin is real? Although I'd be very surprised if someone went to the trouble of faking such a common ruler....Interesting piece though.

I agree it's interesting, but it cannot be worth Euro 195... unless the bezel rim is gold, but I have no way of testing . . . I can't exactly acid test it ... curious piece; I suspect mid-19th century, Victorian.

Probably real, but very common, 4th century Roman coin. Looks like it might have been clipped (and/or filed down) to fit into the brooch, which would have further destroyed its already minuscule value as a coin.

I'm not into brooches so I have no idea how much it's worth as a brooch. Probably nowhere near 195 euros.
