Sap Moderator Australia 16851 Posts	Posted 08/28/2022 06:44 am Coins acquire such stains from two causes: burial in dirt, where the tannic acids impart brownish staining, or from sitting in a chlorinated fountain or swimming pool for a while, in which case it's the free chlorine causing the reaction. Easiest way to tell those apart is to soak in acetone. Soil stains will mostly come off, chlorine stains won't. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
