I'm a newbie and I'm not sure if this is an error or damage on the coin both front and back. Just looking for some thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance!

Both sides are damaged, not an error.
Something has hit them moving the metal.

Okay, while the diagnosis of this is correct, the answer is there. But to the new poster, the question of why is that the answer needs to be explained.
1. What helps us see that the coin was altered?
Note the rims on the coin. Note on all coins they are the border that forms the outside edge of the coin. The rim, protects the devices on the coin. It is the bumper that prevents damage to the devices and design to be affected. Note on this coin, the rim is pushed out of alignment. Note on all the images, the rim is not following the outside edge of the coin. Seeing this pushed aside, tells us that the coin was altered post strike. Note both sides of the coin is showing this metal movement? Seeing is understanding. Giving an answer helps a new poster, but explaining how the determination is more helpful. So when we see see that metal movement, then we concur what happened to the coin post strike. Thus with this knowledge, the new poster can add that information to what he already knows. So helping to understand, cause and affect is more beneficial. We here like to help more, and help understand more. Questions are better answered with an explanation. Knowing cause and affect adds knowledge of how we obtain an answer. Hope this helps even more.
