My elderly MIL is moving to a retirement residence and while sorting through things in her current home she found this case with coins and key and documentation. Picture below

Unfortunately for Olympic coins there is very little love for them, just bullion value or a touch more this set is nice ! and welcome

I forgot to mention look for the map coin and look at the date with the queen, if it is 1974 you have an error version worth something
Rest in Peace

I watched a guy at a coin show buying these ('76 Olympic) coins, using a pocket knife and pulling off the capsule, and tossing the coins into a 'melt bin'. It was kind of sad really, but with an attitude like that for a few decades the number of them remaining should be quite a bit fewer then the published mintages.

I owned this entire set and made a tidy profit during the silver boom of 1980. Never regretted that sale, not attractive coins. I liked the case though.

Nice set and attractive presentation!

If you wind up selling the set, I would advise against accepting a melt value (or less) offer from a dealer. It will likely take longer to sell, by a direct sale to an interested collector will yield a better price - especially as a complete set in a nice storage/presentation case. Jut my opinion...

Not that it matters much in terms of value, but those coins look like they are uncirculated, not proof. The proof coins were released in a 4-coin wooden presentation case like this:

There are Buy Now 28-coin set anywhere from $US 800-1000 on ebay.
