In 1997 the RCM produced a Commemorative Silver Dollar and also the 1972 Proof Set Contained the Silver Dollar. Will the RCM produce a Special Edition Silver Dollar with Gold Plating to mark the 50th Anniversary of this event? Report this Post to the Staff

chief New Member Canada 27 Posts	Posted 09/05/2022 4:21 pm The RCM will be coming out with a 2-dollar coin (a coloured version and a non-coloured version) sometime this year. I don't think the current conflict will interfere with the release. Any victory over Russia probably won't be seen as a bad thing, regardless of how that victory may have come Report this Post to the Staff
commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12252 Posts	Posted 09/06/2022 11:36 am Back in November 2021, I started a thread about potential themes for the Mint's 2022 Commemorative Silver Dollar based on the anniversaries that the Government of Canada was set to officially mark in 2022. Here's a link to it: Commemorative Silver Dollar Theme For 2022? (Plenty of good discussion!) Alexander Graham Bell wasn't on the list, but the 50th Anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series was. I didn't see the Series anniversary as a theme for the annual Silver Dollar, but vonigohcr thought it might make an appearance in the Renewed Dollar Series. Now that the Mint has announced it is going a different direction for the Renewed SD, a Special Edition SD is more of a possibility. I still don't think it's a great choice, however, .
