Do you like the toning?

Have at it, throw your grades into the arena.

Crazy toning, assuming they didnt call it artificial with the reasonably clean fields & wear to the cheek I'm at ms63

Toning is undesirable in my eyes. I would give this piece an MS-64.

Agree with MS63+

Toning has to be artificial, right?

If not AT, then I'll say MS-64, definitely not a fan.
Rest in Peace

A very unusual example to have toned on both sides. MS62 based on the first obverse image. Maybe a bump to 63 for the toning.

TobyJ, how is that determined? That it is not artificial, I mean?

I think that its not toned from the rim inwards & also toned equally on both sides points strongly to artificial toning, right?

MS-63*. This looks like original toning from the old canvas bags.

The coin sold for far more than it's greysheet price, the amount I will reveal with the grade. I deduce from this that the toning is original, but I suppose there is a chance that it is artificial, I admit. Although it certainly looks original also, and not artificial to me.

this is the kind of coin that turns black in the safe.

the slab grade is completely detached from the price on a coin like this. if I were pricing it I would put something dumb like a 10X multiplier on it.

I guess you would classify this one as a monster toner for pricing. Doesn't appeal to me, but would to others.
