I know nothing about these, but that sure looks like a fake to me.

A very poor fake. Just compare yours to a photo of a genuine one.

@cfe, first welcome to CCF. Second, for completeness can you please add the weight and diameter of this piece to the thread? Thx.

Also, I agree with the others that you have a fake. See this numista link for what this Tallero actually looks like:

Absolutely fake. 100%. Because? All of the details are "wrong" for the 1700s. Or for any other time period, for that matter.

It's definitely a fake. A very sloppy fake.

Hi, cfedericop.

This can help answer your question "Because?"
Ragusa-Coin-1770-Real-Or-Fake?-Because?

1. Dentils (the toothed border). On the real coin, they are very regular. On the fake coin they are irregular
2. Lettering. On the real coin, the letters are of a fairly consistent style, size and thickness even if there is some variation in spacing. On the fake coin the letters are very non-uniform (they are REALLY BAD )
3. Design details (face, hair, clothing). You can see the clothing is very different, and with a lack of detail and beauty on the fake. The curls of the hair are poorly executed. And so on.

A side-by-side comparison like this will often help.
