Hello,
As you will see, on the reverse of this Lincoln Cent there is some distortion to the upper part of the letters t, d and e in the word "UNITED". What are you thoughts? A combination of PMD or possibly an error? A Cud or part of MD or DD? (Note: Several pictures are taken at 20-40 degree angle to get a better view of the inside/outside of the rim.) Thanks for your time.

Between the rim and the letters looks like a worn die issue? Might be a plating issue as well?Let's wait for coop.

Looks more like split plating issue. Color on the affected area? Gray, then it might be zinc showing through.

Coop,
The anomaly is on the rim not the letters.

But the split plating could be there as well. The coin is slightly under weight? If gray is visible, it could be split plating, maybe from coin damage? In order to alter that area at the mint, the outside edge of the die would have to be affected. But the gutter is on that area. So I'm not thinking this is a die issue, but a striking or damage issue to the coin.
