Not a die clash,read the link I posted. I found it fast because a remembered coops post and as I said I had a set of 12 progressions (stages) of it.

This is probably the only year that we see these examples on the Memorial Cents. 1973 is the year.

Probably one set of dies that were not tempered correctly. When used they affected the dies, and the coins struck with those dies.
