If they are extra columns, it might be one of the DDRs listed here, the ones that say extra columns in bays 1, 2, 3, etc.

If not, it might be Split Plating? Figured I would ask before going further with the investigation.

If they are gray in color, it is split plating. On the Extra columns, they are more towards the center of the bays. There are 4 normal false columns.

These often get polished away. But the real DDR's are more in the central areas of some of the bays:

As the die age, the die polishing also affects these as well:

Affecting the center bay area in different strengths:

Identifying these can be be tough. Strength, height, locations all much match the listed examples. (I still have 5 tubes, that I've not matched up yet) So there are a lot of these out there.

CoopHome: What new DDR's started on the 1990's cents? referred to as 'bar Cents." These are easy to find on many of the post 1996-2008 cents

@coop Thanks for the lesson on extra columns! I like the ones involving the statue, esp the one with the inverted statue and the statue with doubled steps.

I will have to add all the years and mints shown there to my BOLO list, or I guess maybe just check for extra columns on the entire decade keeping in mind the early die stages are better specimens because of how the polishing wears away at the extra columns.

You will be matching up your 5 rolls for the next 10 years, huh? Do you want some help? I thought maybe you could post a couple for us newbies to practice on. The experts would have to keep out, ha ha!

Those are great graphics with incredible photography. Thanks for sharing!

I find seeing is a lot better than reading. If I described in words, the interest fades quickly. Be seeing, that is a different story, and paints a different set of words for each observer. But understanding the process, it the key point. If you understand how these can happen, then you look for it on the coins you search. Look for the varieties with your eye of understanding of how it could happen on die creation. Not all dies are created equally. Thus, they are the varieties we seek. Become familiar to what can happen in circulation (damage to a coin). When you figure out that not every coin will be an error or variety, then you can sort out the spenders and keepers faster. (keep in mind also of a the thousands of people have already looked at those coins already.)
