I won this in the auction that @CoinEnthusiast posted coins from. It was the last date I needed for the circulation braided hair Half Cents.

Admittedly, some of the copper coinage is a bit difficult for me to grade. With that said, I'll give it a go and say that the coin is in the high VF/low XF range. I'll go with a shaky VF-35 just to get a number out there.

Would it straight grade with the obverse cleaning?

I'll say EF-40+ straight.

You might be right, @halfamind, that it wouldn't straight grade. Even on the reverse, there appear to be a couple of lighter spots that might be indicative of a cleaning.

I don't see any cleaning. XF-40 was my initial thought.
Suffering from bust half fever.

All of the shape of the design is there with obvious even wear all over.
But no obvious flat areas that are the result of wear.

Thanks everyone. I saw this as a VF+ / XF. I have been looking for this date for some time and would always find them for hundreds of dollars. Paid $107 for this one, not a steal, but I expect to be happy with this one.

You are going to be happy with it and the price you paid over time. Braided Hair Half Cents are getting very tough to find at shows with prices high and dealers firm.
