Take your time, educate yourselves, do your homework and get multiple offers from reputable dealers.

You will only get to sell them once!

By all means, please let us know who this dealer was.

There are too many slimy ones out there, I've met quite a few!

There's an honest good dealer in Portsmouth, Ohio if you're not far from there.

Really sad as Coins Plus is Brad Kareloff's company, they have 3 stores 2 in Ohio and 1 in Kentucky. Brad is a stand up guy from my experiences. He is one of the officers in the Liberty Seated Club and involved in several coin clubs ( John Reich Society, Bust Coinage, EAC, NBS, ANS, ANA, etc.) He is usually running the Cincinnati shop. I'd call him directly if I was the OP and ask why his employees are offering $2 apiece for Morgan dollars. I'd bet he is not aware of that, sounds like an employee is trying to take advantage of someone less knowledgeable for their own gain, and wouldn't even let the Brad or the shop know if he had purchased the set.

I'm tempted to call this coin dealer too, let him know our entire community is aware of their business practices.

That is an amazing set. You are lucky to own it and if things work out such you can get the house and keep this inheritance, I hope you can!

Thank you as fellow collectors, but thank yourself, for doing enough homework in advance to walk out.

Just so you know, the scrap/melt/junk value of Morgans is around $14.6 today based on these being 90% silver. Go into any shop, and they are selling these for around $30 if not more as baseline, common, circulated, maybe slightly damaged/cleaned.

As others have said, while many of these may be worth $40-100 each in XF-low MS grades, there are a handful of date / mint mark combinations worth hundreds if not thousands. A full run of dates and mint ads up to quite a bit of value even if mostly in the XF-AU grade range. This would be worth thousands.

When selling, hopefully another dealer/collector gives you a fair value for each of the coins. Some might want to just cherry-pick the keys and/or discount the common stuff. If selling this, you deserve a fair price of ALL of it.

Never accuse anyone of something unless you have solid proof. The employee may claim an offer was made and misinterpreted. Unless there is something in writing, there is no record of an offer made.

On the other hand, the OP can expect to get a realistic price expectation with help from members of this forum upon good image posts of the items.

If someone in a business tries to dupe you (and dsmages the reputation of this business) you can't complain to his boss unless you have written proof? Why?

Of course he can state he was misinterpreted but thats then for his and his boss to discuss.

In today's world with so much information available ,
there are not as many bad actors amongst dealers
as there used to be .
We always tell a potential seller to shop around and see
us last .
Considering the stellar reputation of the dealer being discussed,
it is quite possible that something was lost in the discussion
between the seller and the shop !

Oh—— one other piece of advice to share:

No matter how hard it is to resist the urges DO NOT clean, wipe, polish, wash or try to enhance the appearance of any of your coins! Over the years many novices have ruined way more coins than they have helped! Cleaning can kill value! Avoid it at all costs!
