Hello,

Google lens is letting me down on this one.

If anyone has an ID, I'd appreciate it. I haven't bought it yet....

Thank you!

@roma, any chance of you posting in-focus pics? I've been struggling with this one for awhile looking with keywords like CRESCENT MOON and STAR, but am coming up empty. It sure seems like medieval France/Germany with that bishop on the other side. If I could read the inscriptions that might help. Thx.

Added:

Pretty sure I see CIVITAS in that second pic. Maybe this is from Trieste, Italy and so the rest of the inscription would be TERGESTVM?

Added #2:

Sorry that this has been a bit stream of consciousness, but this is how my brain is working today. You have an Italian Denaro from the late 13th Century. Below is a description from an auction of a similar piece along with the description:

Quote:
Italy, Trieste. Arlongo de Visgoni, bishop AD 1260-1282, AR Denaro (20mm, 0.90 gram)
ARLONGVS EP; seated bishop holding staff and book of gospels
+CIVITAS TERGESTVM; crescent and star
Biaggi 2726

@Spence . . . you are a legend! Thank you.
I was foolishly searching 'tachy' and 'early-ottoman' or 'byzantine'.
No reason to doubt it's authenticity, I suspect.
It is in a shop with a number of other coins in a lot for 45 euro. There's an austrian 50 shilling commemorative that melts at around 10 euro of that 45. The price is discounted next week to 36, but I am thinking I should jump on it and 45 vs the risk of losing it.
Thank you again!

No prob at all and I agree nothing looks suspect in terms of authenticity. Good luck with the purchase and be sure to follow up with better pics in this thread once you get it home.

I would DEFINITELY jump on it before it gets away.

Nice ID (I was thinking Aquilea which has the same style obverse , but always AQUILEGIA or something like that).

Hello again everyone. I picked up the lot today. Here are some photos of the coin relevant to this thread. I will post another strange find under world coins.
Thank you @spence for the help with the I'd and thank you @tdz for the push to grab it today!

It weighs 1.09 g.
