Nothing fancy here...just practicing posting so I don't forget how.
Got these 2 rough notes from a friend...got em because I didn't have any. Paid $10 for the $5 and $15 for the $10.
Thanks for looking!

What makes them "north African"?

I probably knew, but the stroke or the radiation ate it.

They were issued as a security measure for use by American troops (and for all dollar transactions) in the north of Africa and southern Europe during WWII. If they were somehow seized and accumulated by the Axis powers in the event of our defeat, they could easily be demonitized because of their distinctive appearance. Same thing with the "Hawaii" notes in the event the islands were overrun by the Japanese.

Well explained Mr.Frog.

The North African Experimental Silver Certificates have a very distinctive look with the blue serial numbers and the bright yellow seal. It's hard to beat the eye appeal of a GEM $5 or $10 NA note. The large blue 5 and 10 markers on the left side really accent the look. One of my favorite series.
