I got about a dozen rolls of uncirculated 1962 Nickels from the bank a little while ago, and under the microscope it looked like there was some DDO on some of them. I'll post some pictures when I figure it out (I'm about halfway there), but I'm curious what I should do with them? Well, what y'all would do with them if you had them. Only about five of the rolls are untouched, but if someone points me in the right direction to make some money off them I'd be happy to send them a roll or two. If they're not worth much but someone would like a roll for their collection, I can do that too.

I'm obviously the new guy here, but thank you all for the information you provided about the Kennedy weights. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to pull my weight here.

P.S.-you won't be able to buy/sell/trade/give until you have 50 quality posts...sorry. Nice gesture though.

@mean, first welcome to CCF. Second, I look forward to seeing you post some pics of your finds. Also, you will see that I have lightly edited your post to make the language more family-friendly.

My apologies, thought an obscure acronym would be safe, and get a chuckle, but duly noted. I'll keep it clean going forward. I'm kind of excited, most forum posts I've seen are months old. It's pretty awesome to find an active forum on a topic that's relatively obscure.

I'll go through the the rolls I opened and send some better pictures later tonight. Gives me 280 to go through, without opening the 5 virgin rolls, so I'll just use a magnifying glass to set aside the promising ones then use the Electron (USB) microscope. Kinda new to this, if anyone has a more efficient process I'd love to hear it.

Again, it's really pretty rare and pretty awesome how everyone here is willing to help each other and even the new guy.

Side note: I read that if the steps on the reverse are distinct, that makes it more valuable, as they are the first area to get worn off. I always believe what I read on the Internet. ;)

It's not so much the wear but rather Monticello's steps are a proxy for strike quality. Many dates, IIRC 1962 is one of them, have no known examples with 6 full steps visible. For those dates, collectors look for 5 full steps instead. To be considered full the steps must not blend together anywhere along their length. Six and five step examples usally sell for a premium.
