Slightly OT but: I am new so still learning how to see doubled dies. However, you should weigh it because I saw somewhere a rare 1983 D struck on copper, but they are supposed to be zinc. Edit: They call it brass but here is the link https://www.numismaticnews.net/arch...cent-mystery

Very nice! Looks like it to me. Congrats, this is a pretty rare/valuable one! This is an odd one, and I've always wondered if it might actually be a well placed die gouge since it isn't really shaped like the earlobe itself.
Soak it in 100% pure acetone (NOT nail polish remover) to remove that gunk.

Samcoin I thought nothing of it and I recall seeing another coin like it that I tossed but maybe I'm just wishing. Do you think its worth being graded?

PCGS estimates a value of $500 for an ms63 in red condition. This is probably somewhere in the high AU to low MS RD/BN area, but the variety is so rare PCGS doesn't estimate a price for that. I would say almost certainly worth more than the $150 threshold at which the common wisdom is that it becomes worth grading. Congrats again on a fantastic find!

SamCoin I'm not sure if there is a way I can tag you in a reply. I always thought cleaning them devalues them but the gunk just seems to be stuff from a mechanics hand that smudged it. I saw it was rare and I'm definitely happy, I'd like to get it out to PCGS so It can be on the list and hope it makes MS. The coin looks better in person so I'd like to hope it would get a low MS

I recommended soaking in 100% pure acetone because that and water are pretty much the only two things it's considered safe to soak a coin in as neither will react with the metal. Do not scrub or abraid the coin in any way. Just soak to dissolve surface gunk, remove, allow to air dry, and put back in a flip.

Excellent find! I'd guess AU which is still in the zone for slabbing on this rarity.

Nice find. I do not think it makes MS grade. I also see what looks like a fingerprint on the reverse.Make sure to flatten those staples, you do not want to damage other coins in 2x2's when/if you stack them, this should become a habit for you. John1

Is that a linear feature running from the back of Abe's head, down through the bust--through the lapel and terminating at the bust's base? Raised or sunken (incuse)?

Amazing find! I'm quite late on this one but this is really not a variety you see often. Pretty rare and in a nice grade too! Congrats! If this were mine, I would consider it a slab-worthy piece.
