Hello everyone,

Found this in a bag of other random coins today...

I am guessing communion token but unsure; looking for any information from anyone with any insights.

Thank you!

It's definitely a religious medal of some kind. Not technically a "communion token", as those usually have more communion-specific imagery, and are also more... Protestant... in design, since it was mainly Protestant churches that used them. Finding it in Italy, I would assume it to be a Catholic medallion, which fits better with the imagery.

Someone certainly cherished it in the past; when it broke off its original medallion loop mount, they punched a hole in it so they could keep wearing it.

@roma, it looks like this started off as a pendant and then the loop broke off, and the someone drove an old square nail through to turn it back into a pendant. With the cross and angel, I agree that it is Christianity-themed, but less sure that it is a communion token. Still a fun find and good mystery to chase down.

What's the weight?

Thank you both ... Certainly you're both sharing some brain waves across time and space... You often reply similarly at the same time ... Albeit an ocean or two apart.

It weighs 1.98 g. Fits in a 22.5 plastic capsule, so it is small.

The design says something about age, I'm just not sure what
