This penny is about the size (approx. 22mm) and depth (approx. 2mm) of a nickel. It weighs 2.48 grams. It hasn't been cleaned an it doesn't appear to be made from the same material as a penny or nickel. Does anyone have any ideas or error surrounding this coin?
I am sorry if the pictures aren't up to par. I am having a difficult time in resizing to 300 kb pixels. I've watched the tutorials so bare with me please as I figure all this out.

@kyw, you have yourself a Texas Cent. No premium on the value, just counts as damaged. By the way, the expanding process has removed the copper plating so you are just seeing the zinc core.

They will also contort into various shapes. I was told it is due to heat [possibly fire]. I have several in various sizes and shapes.

Well, I looked it up and it's very interesting on how the Texas Cent was made. By pounding the cent between 2 pieces of leather?
I was wondering about it just having the zinc layer due to the black color and because all those bumps covering the coin. The letters and profile of Lincoln are so finely printed that I thought the coin may be counterfeit.

Thank you. :)

Or squeezed in a vise through two pieces of leather. On zinc cents, the stretch of the coin, makes the plating fall off of the coin. Thus they are dark in color:

to the CCF It doesn't seem posable to stretch out a coin and have the devices look that good, but they do.
